The Shanghai update, also known as Shapella, will go live on the Goerli testnet on March 14, 2023, according to a statement by Ethereum developers during their monthly meeting on March 1, 2023. More validators that are not authorized to run on Shapella are able to test crucial functions prior to Goerli thanks to ephemeral testnets. To test full and partial staked ETH withdrawals, the Goerli launch will be the first deployment on a public testnet.
