NY Fed Begins A 12-week CBDC Trial Program With Big Banks
A 12-week proof-of-concept pilot for a central bank digital currency, or CBDC, was announced by the Innovation Center of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, or NYIC. As part of the pilot, massive financial institutions like BNY Mellon, Citi, HSBC, Mastercard, PNC Bank, TD Bank, Truist, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo will issue tokens and settle transactions using fictitious central bank reserves.
